Lahore: (Lord Media) The Punjab government has filed review petitions against three significant Supreme Court rulings. These petitions address the reclassification of sexual assault as consensual sex, the consolidation of sentences for a murderer of sixteen individuals, and the acquittal of a fugitive.
The petitions were submitted by Additional Prosecutor General Punjab, Ahmad Raza Gillani. The review request concerning the reclassification of rape stresses that courts should avoid statements against victims of sexual assault to protect their dignity.
In the petition against the consolidation of sentences for the murder of sixteen people, it is argued that twenty-one individuals from two families were killed, categorizing the incident as terrorism. The Supreme Court’s decision warrants reconsideration.
A review petition has also been filed against the Supreme Court’s decision to acquit a fugitive along with other accused.
